On a spur overlooking the Hérault valley, a medieval town named after the Barons of Guers who dwelt in the feudal castle with a splendid view of the valley from the terrace. Admire the fortress-like church of St Sulpice, built by the Benedictines of St Thibéry, and beautifully preserved ancient houses. By the river outside the village are three 13th c. mills. In the garrigue is the chapel of St Nicolas de Tapulsiac, close by a strange place called the "Fairy rock", to which erosion has given a moonlike appearance. Sample AOC Picpoul de Pinet on many wine estates, a white wine praised by seafood lovers.
